Kunti placed her in a manju and made the night flow right into the Ganges. The boy started flowing from one of the banks in the Ganges. His eyes fell on this infant kept in his hand. Adhirath grabbed the kid and also took him to his house. Adhirath was childless. Radha followed that child-like his son. This means that Adhiratha was Sutras. When Kuunti was eligible for marriage, she was married.
Kuunti accepted Pandu as a husband wearing Jaimala. Once during hunting, Pandu deems Mithunrat to kill a kidnapped sage. Those sages curse Pandu while dying that you will certainly pass away like me when you continue to be maltreated.
Because of this curse, Pandu goes to the woodland with his wives. Pandu had two other halves, Kuntti and also Madri. In the forest, they start living the lives of ascetics, but Pandu is unhappy that he has no children and tries to convince Kuntii that by conferring him with a sage. Should generate. Kuunti refuses this and tells about her boon. Then, with the approval of Pandu, Kunnti asks for Dharmaraja. This gives him the birth of Yudhishthira. Finally, Kuunti also teaches Madri the mantra that Durvasa gave.
Madri then calls for two Ashwin kumaras, from which they get a son named Nakula and Sahadeva. One day, Raja Pandu was visiting the financial institutions of Sarita in the woodland with Madri.
The atmosphere was delightful, and the cool-smelling air was blowing. It is said that Madri becomes sati with him. Now before Kunti, there is a crisis of upbringing of five sons. After the death of her husband, Kuntii chose the insecure place of her in-laws instead of going to the safe zone of the maiden.
He turned to Hastinapur for the future and upbringing of the five sons, which was a tough decision and time in his life. With the help of all, Kuunti finally managed to make her place in the palace. At the behest of Kuntii and supporters, Dhritarashtra and Gandhari had to consider the Pandavas as the sons of Pandu. At the palace, Kuntii encountered Gandhari, Shakuni and Duryodhana, who posed many challenges to him. In Kuntii and Gandhari, an indirect war started to give full rights to the state to their sons.
Shakuni and Duryodhana jointly created many conspiracies to kill Pandavas. Once, he poisoned Duryodhana and threw it into the Ganges. Bhima, in the unconscious state, got to the individual of the flowing serpents. That is, poison started being bitten by poison. This news reached Nagraj Vasuki. Then he came to Bhima. Karna decided to help her by invoking powerful incantations to squeeze ghee out of Earth itself. This caused great pain to Mother Earth and she cursed him, that when he would be the most vulnerable, she would abandon him.
Bheema even managed to insult him and compare him to a stray dog. But it was Duryodhana who went against the caste system and embraced him. It was Duryodhana who saw his capabilities and when everybody disowned him and even insulted Karna, Duryodhana stood by him not only by considering him as an equal but also by bestowing him as a commander of his Army for his capabilities in the great Mahabharata.
For the first time in his life, he was accepted by royalty and it deeds well for his conscience and ego and his soul. He never forgot this gesture of his friend Duryodhana and so in order to show his gratitude towards this unconditional friendship vowed to aide Duryodhana all through his life and in all conditions, good or bad. This is the reason why he did not side with Pandavas even when Lord Krishna exploded with the truth that he is one of the Pandava brothers and son of non-other than Lord Surya himself.
He took up the task of establishing Duryodhana as the Emperor of the World. He embarks upon a worldwide military campaign, otherwise called Digvijaya Yatra , conquering kings in every direction and subjugating their kingdoms and making them swear allegiance to Duryodhana as the king of Hastinapur.
In this military adventure, Karna waged wars all over the world and made submission of entire kingdoms in the world. Having thus conquered and brought under his subjection the entire world, Karna came back to Hastinapura with immense wealth and power the world had never witnessed before. King Dhritarashtra praised Karna, comparing him favorably to those like Bhishma and Drona. No person in the entire universe, except Lord Vishnu and Indrajit, the son of Ravana had performed this Vaishnava sacrifice before.
Duryodhana thus becomes the most powerful and the wealthiest man in the world. Duryodhana even made plans and preparations to conquer Indra, the lord of the heavens , and the father of Arjuna with the help of Karna in order to become the sovereign ruler of both heaven and earth.
It is said that Duryodhana never shed a single teardrop for any of his real brothers who were killed on the battlefield, but when his beloved friend Karna was slain, he was inconsolable. Draupadi longed for a husband with wisdom and moral values, strength, ability, good looks, and intelligence. Karna was the only character in Mahabharata who had all these qualities.
Also, all these qualities had been equally divided in Pandavas Yudhistira for moral values, Bhima for physical strength, Arjuna for archery, Nakula is handsome and Sahadev is the most intelligent. But haughty Draupadi herself prevented him from participating in the Swyamvar, calling him a Suta Putra. This insult by Draupadi was one of the reasons for her downfall in the courtroom where she was disrobed in public, leading to the humiliation of Pandavas, reaping the seeds of war.
Drona had defeated and humiliated King Draupad and he organized a Yagya to sire a son to make that wish come true. A son and a daughter appeared during the Yagya and God Yajna promised King Darupad that these siblings would avenge his loss. King Draupad after the fallout of Kauravas and Pandavas thought that if he could make a permanent alliance with Arjuna he could revenge Drona through him.
As the Pandavas at that time were in hiding, living as poor Brahmins he kept the competition open for all with no restriction on age, caste, or creed. Draupadi had nothing personal against him and she was not prejudiced against his caste, it was just an excuse thought of in a haste. She wanted to marry only Arjuna as she believed that he was the only one who could help her accomplish her destiny.
There is another legend which says that its Karna who prevented the rape of Draupadi by Vasuki. Vasuki could only be pacified by the eldest Kunti-Putra Karna. Draupadi felt terrible for doing what she did and noticed how handsome and a perfect gentleman Karna was.
Draupadi always favored Arjuna but alas, Arjuna was not happy with the fact that he had to share the prize he has won with 4 brothers. Arjuna, on the other hand, favored Subhadra. Draupadi knew this too, which is why she starts having a soft corner for Karna. But during Vastraharanam episode it is said that Karna too passed some lewd comments which have been justified by many to provoke the Pandavas to do something.
Alas, they just fell on deaf ears. Abusing this, Indra approached Karna, disguised as a poor Brahmin and asked for his Kavach armor made of gold and Kundal earrings.
Impressed, Indra gave him Vasava Shakti or Indrastra or Amogh Shakti , a powerful weapon that Karna can use once to kill anyone, after which the weapon will return to Indra. Krishna very well knew of the Amogh Shakti that Indra gifted to Karna, and the ever-lurking threat it possessed for Arjuna. Ghatotkacha got very mighty and unconquerable in the wee hours of the night as he was part Rakshasa. When Duryodhana saw that the rakshas was indefatigable and unflinching, he asked Karna to kill him.
As promised to Kunti, he aimed at killing only Arjuna. Soon after, during his mission to expand his empire, Pandu marries Madri , a princess of Madra in order to secure the vassalage of Shalya.
Kunti was disturbed by her husband's act, but eventually became reconciles. Madri discriminated Kunti and said that she was inferior by birth because Yadavas were cattle herders while Madri was a princess. Pandu could not make love with his wives due to a curse by sage Kindama. When Pandu expressed to Kunti his despair at the prospect of dying childless, Kunti used the boons given to her by Sage Durvasa to bear three sons— Yudhishthira by Yama , Bhima by Vayu , and Arjuna by Indra.
Kunti having warmed up to Madri during their exile shares the mantra with her. Madri bears Pandu Nakula and Sahadeva by the Ashvins. When the Pandavas returned to Hastinapur, there was a succession crisis. Duryodhana claimed to be the next heir for the kingdom.
Dhritarashtra named Yudhisthira as his heir, enraging Duryodhana. With the help of Shakuni , Duryodhana planned to burn the Pandavas and Kunti in a Lakshagraha while they were on a festival at Varnavat. But with early warning and aid from Vidura , the Pandavas and Kunti fake their death and escape the burning house.
They travel the countryside, disguised as brahmins. During their stay at Ekachakra , Kunti and the Pandavas came to know of a demon, Bakasura, who troubled the people. Kunti engineered a plot where Bhima would be able to face and kill the demon.
The powerful Bhima brought his might to the fore and trumped Bakasura. Bhima slays the rakshasa Hidimba and he is beseeched by Hidimbi , Hidimba's sister, to wed her. Bhima is reluctant, but Kunti ordered Bhima to marry Hidimbi seeing merit in the woman.
